Tech Tip of the Month

Welcome to our Tech Tip of the Month! Each month, we bring you a handy tech tip to boost your productivity and streamline your workflow.

Here is one of our favourite features of Windows 11. Struggling to stay focused? This one is for you!

Stay Productive with Focus Sessions in Windows 11

With constant pings from messages and video calls, staying focused during the workday can be a challenge. That’s where Focus Sessions in Windows 11 comes in — a simple yet powerful tool designed to help you carve out time for deep, uninterrupted work.

Located in the Clock app, Focus Sessions lets you quickly set aside at least 30 minutes of distraction-free time. If your session lasts longer than 45 minutes, it will automatically schedule a five-minute break to help you recharge and stay productive.

Ready to give it a try? Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting it up on your PC.

Step 1: Open the Clock App

    • Click the Start button or press the Windows key.
    • Type “Clock” in the search bar and open the Clock app.

Step 2: Navigate to Focus Sessions

    • In the Clock app, select “Focus Sessions” from the left-hand menu.

Step 3: Set Your Focus Duration

    • Choose how long you want to focus — the default is 30 minutes, but you can adjust it to suit your needs.
    • If you select more than 45 minutes, the app will automatically schedule a 5-minute break halfway through.

Step 4: Link Your Microsoft To Do (Optional)

    • You can connect your Microsoft To Do list to track tasks during your session.
    • This helps you stay goal-oriented while you focus.

Step 5: Choose Background Music (Optional)

    • If you use Spotify, you can link your account to play focus-friendly music during your session.

    Step 6: Start Your Session

    • Click “Start Focus Session” to begin.
    • The timer will run, and notifications will be minimized to help you stay in the zone.

We hope you find this helpful! Stay tuned for more tech tips next month to keep your productivity soaring. Happy computing!
